Each year, the English Montreal School Board proudly hosts its annual retirees reception, an evening dedicated to honoring the educators, administrators, and staff who have devoted their careers to shaping young minds. This cherished tradition brings together colleagues, families, and board members to celebrate years of service, share memories, and express heartfelt appreciation for the lasting impact these individuals have made across the EMSB community.
In addressing the audience,   EMSB Chair, Joe Ortona stated: “As you embark on this new chapter of your life, remember that retirement is not the end but a new beginning.  It’s time for you to explore your passions, travel, take up new hobbies, or simply savor the joy of doing nothing at all.  The choice is yours, and that’s the beauty of retirement – you get to write your own story from here on out.”
EMSB Director General, Nick Katalifos expressed good  wishes to everyone. “As you retire, remember that you have left behind a legacy of encouragement, achievement and work ethic that will always be part of your coworker,” he said. “Congratulations and thank you for all that you have given and accomplished for the EMSB.”
Also, present were Deputy Director General (Administration) Jack Chadirdjian, Deputy Director General (Education) Pela Nickoletopoulos, Regional Director (West) Jimmy Giannacopoulos, Regional Director (AEVS) Angela Spagnolo, several EMSB commissioners, and senior administrators, who presented each retiree with a special thank you gift.
A total of 130 people attended the annual event, which took place on October 21 at Le Crystal Reception Hall in St. Laurent. The evening honored 99 retiring employees of the EMSB who worked as educators, administrators, professionals and support staff, and whose combined years of service to the Board added up to 2,415 years.
