GOVERNING BOARD

The school governing board is a component of the education reform and came into being with the establishment of linguistic school boards in 1998. Comprised of an elected chair, vice-chair and secretary as well as parents, administrators, teachers, and student representatives, the governing board is a parent-school partnership that works towards the primary goal of making decisions that benefit our students. Every member has the same goal, which is to promote student success.

The governing board is the main governing body of the school, and is composed of parents, teachers, administrators, students, and community representatives. It makes decisions regarding the school and is responsible for discussing all matters related to student success, including the school success plan, code of conduct, safe school action plan, school budget, as well as the features and expectations of the school community. The Chair of the governing board must be a parent and has the deciding vote.

The governing board is not involved with the day-to-day running of the school, but  works with the school principal in setting and implementing policy direction for programs and services that will meet the needs of the students and the community.
